Structural Flooring Series

Sanded Magnesium Oxide Board

A dense, sanded magnesium oxysulfate board for subfloor, underlayment and single-layer structural floor systems.

The controlled sanded surface provides a consistent base for flooring assemblies while board thickness and density are selected for the project load and system design.

Primary Fit

Designed Around the Flooring Assembly

This series is selected for its sanded surface, higher reference density and structural flooring thickness range.

01

Subfloor

For framed or modular construction systems requiring a structural board layer matched to support spacing and load requirements.

02

Underlayment

Provides a consistent substrate beneath the specified finished-floor system, subject to installation design and fastening requirements.

03

Single-Layer Structural Floor

For projects designed around a single MgO structural floor layer with confirmed thickness, edges, spans and performance criteria.

Reference Specification

Match Thickness to the Floor System

Load, joist or support spacing, edge profile, fastening and finished flooring must be reviewed as one assembly.

Product Selection

Why the Sanded Surface Matters

The sanded face provides a controlled surface for flooring work. It should not be confused with a non-woven faced sheathing board or a decorative laminated wall panel.

Sulfycor uses a magnesium oxysulfate cement system. Confirm the full flooring assembly before selecting thickness and board format.

Quality Evidence

Measured Performance for Structural Flooring

A 12 mm Sulfycor magnesium sulfate board was evaluated for dry and wet flexural strength, fixing resistance, impact performance and durability.

These results support early technical evaluation for subfloor, underlayment and single-layer structural floor projects. Final suitability is confirmed against the complete floor assembly and design loads.

Values shown are tied to the submitted 12 mm sample and stated laboratory conditions.

20.5

Equilibrium ConditionAverage Flexural Strength20.5 MPa average; 18.3 MPa machine direction and 22.8 MPa cross-machine direction.

18.1

Wet ConditionAverage Flexural Strength18.1 MPa average after wet conditioning; direction-specific results retained.

Type A

Australia / New ZealandAS/NZS 2908.2 Requirements Met2025 report concluded that all tested results met the Type A requirements.

Test values apply to the submitted sample. Board direction, thickness, support spacing, fasteners and full floor assembly remain project-specific.
